Department of Public Relations

Description:

The Public Relations Department was first established in 2021. The department proposes a crucial inspection of the academic theories and contemporary professional practices that shape the profession in the 21st century. It offers to train public relations professionals who specialize in all aspects of creativity, strategy, branding, consumer behavior, and research, as well as in all aspects of public relations, corporate communication, and management. The department aims to develop, think differently, and design future communication projects.

Department Vision:

  • To be the first academic resource to provide a better understanding of public relations and its significance in business, culture, politics, and society in general.
  • To build academic Public Relations specialists that can make a positive contribution to the profession.

Department Mission:

The Public Relations Department is committed to delivering a strong educational program by providing instruction and skill development in various aspects of the public relations discipline. In addition to preparing students to be public relations specialists under the title of “PR Practitioner,” with which they will be able to manage the mutual relationship between an organization, group, or person and its public.

Learning Outcomes:

o   Understanding the public relations discipline and its main inquiries

o   Exercising public relations principles, theories, and concepts.

o   Having the ability to manage the image and reputation of a person, a group, or an organization

o   Creating and analyzing the context and purpose of messages to the audience.

o   Creating and developing campaigns that utilize convergence and/or digital media to strategically reach the public.

o   Using best practices for issues and crisis management in public relations

Study Methods:

The department utilizes various types of teaching methods, such as the following:

Focus groups, interviews, guest speaker presentations, questionnaires, flipped classrooms, project-based learning, lectures, interactive discussion groups, student-centered learning, project-based learning, role-playing, and games.

Language:

The language of instruction at the Department is Kurdish for all courses, with the exception of some models in each semester that are taught in English.

Duration:

The duration of study at the department is 4 academic years, divided into 8 semesters.
